What You'll Do

As the Director of Accounting, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.
  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee consolidated financial statements across multiple properties and entities.
  • Partner with Operations, Acquisitions, and Property Management teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements and optimize accounting systems to support company growth and scalability.
  • Strengthen and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Analyze portfolio performance through variance analysis and key performance indicators.
  • Manage critical accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany transactions, tenant billing, collections, vendor payments, and capital expenditures.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills.

Ideal qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, corporate taxation, internal controls, and cash management.
  • Experience in real estate, REIT, self-storage, or property management accounting.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Experience with property management and accounting software.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through growth and change.
